What is WAIS?

WAIS has the capability of simultaneously searching in more than one database.

After the search phrase has been typed into the client interface, the user can then choose which databases should be used to complete the search. Depending on the WAIS client software being used, this may be a matter of using a mouse to select database names displayed on a screen, or of typing in the database names using the keyboard.
