What is a web index?
Web indexes use hypertext to present their lists of resources, which
facilitates browsing.
For example, in a topical index, the broad topics can be presented as hypertext links which, when selected, provide links either to the web resources themselves or to subtopics that further categorize the resources.
Most web indexes allow users to not only to identify a particular resource of interest,
but actually link directly to the resource from the index.
